The International Cricket Council (ICC) Chief Executive (CEC) has unanimously agreed to change its Future Tour Program (FTP) by 2023 because of the COVID-19 epidemic. It did not say anything openly about the T20 World Cup and the Indian Premier League (IPL), but inside being tried to reach an agreement.
It has been agreed between the BCCI and the ICC that the new FTP be made such that the IPL is also held in India and the T20 World Cup in Australia.
However, all this will depend on when the condition of the corona will normal in cricket-playing countries, especially in India and Australia. Because now organizing the games will depend more on the governments there than on the board.
An official of the BCCI said that we are assuming that there is a possibility of cricket starting in September and IPL could be organized first.
In such a situation, you have to avoid the Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The Asia Cup is to be held in the UAE and there is doubt as to what will be Corona’s position in Dubai by September and whether the government there will be ready to host the tournament.
If conditions do not improve in September, then the window for IPL can be open in October and November, while Australia may have a T20 World Cup in December-January. It is known that IPL was to be held in India from 29 March to 24 May this year. The T20 World Cup is to be held from October 18 to November 15 in Australia.
When the officer was asked when this would lead to India’s tour of Australia, he said that many things are yet to be finalized. If the World Cup moves forward, the series will slide further too. Overall, work has begun on the new FTP and once the conditions clear, the new FTP will be in front of everyone.
